In the 9 months from January to September 2019, Rexel generated sales of EUR 10,221.7 m EUR, an increase of 3.6% over the same period last year. Of this total, 5,425.7 m EUR was generated in Europe, 3,918.9 m EUR in North America of which 3,107.2 m EUR in the US.

Country No. 1 in Europe was, as always, France with sales of 2,050.3 m EUR (+2.9%), Scandinavia 701.1 m EUR (+3.2%), UK 558.2 m EUR (-8.8%), Germany slipped even further to 481.2 m EUR, a minus of 19.6%!

Of the 877.0 m EUR from the Asia-Pacific region, 357.9 m EUR (an increase of 8.6% over the previous year) was generated in China.

Eaton has sold its lighting business to Signify of the Netherlands for 1.4 bn USD (1.3 bn EUR) in cash.

Signify N.V. is a lighting manufacturer based in Eindhoven/NL. Originally it was a division of the electronics manufacturer Philips and has been listed on the stock exchange as an independent company since May 2016.

Eaton's lighting division had sales of 1.7 bn USD (1.5 bn EUR) in 2018.

The transaction still has to be approved by the competition authorities. Final closing is expected in the 1st quarter of 2020.

Eaton's total sales in 2018 amounted to 21.6 bn USD (19.6 bn EUR), an increase of 5.9% over the previous year. Net profit in 2018 amounted to 2.145 m USD (1.945 m EUR), down a remarkable 28.2% on the previous year.

As the ZVEI announced, in July 2019 exports of the German electrical industry increased by 6.3% over the previous year to 18.1 EUR bn.

Imports of electrotechnical goods to Germany increased by 4.1% to 111.7 EUR bn between January and July.

From January to July, exports to industrialized countries increased by 3.6% over the previous year to 80.8 EUR bn.

Deliveries to China increased for the first time in one month (July) by 9.8% to 2.0 bn EUR. Russia increased by 29% to 396 m EUR.

Rexel Announces the appointment of Thomas Moreau as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rexel France.....

Rexel Announces the appointment of Thomas Moreau as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rexel France. The appointment of Moreau will take effect on 1 October. For the past three years, Moreau has served as Commercial Vice President of Rexel France.
Moreau joined Rexel in 2017 after spending fifteen years in various positions at Schneider Electric, where he became Vice President Business Strategy France in 2014. Moreau graduated from EDHEC Business School.

In addition, Shahab Chaudhry, currently CFO of Rexel Middle East, has been appointed Rexel Canada's Corporate Controller. Chaudhry has held various financial positions within the Rexel Group over the last 10 years and has been instrumental in the growth of the Middle East business in recent years.

His successor will be as of November 1, Ms. Joanne Bjelanovic; she will be based in Dubai.

The marketing group IDEE located in Gerlingen near Stuttgart celebrated its 25th anniversary under the motto "futureforum - a digital journey" and invited to Rome its European partners / members and main suppliers. IDEE, with its managing director, Heinrich Thye, is represented in electrical wholesaling in 21 European countries with the largest, independent electrical wholesalers.

To say it straight away: The event was a huge success. The topics were carefully prepared, and the speakers were excellent. They were partly Italian professors who all spoke very good English without exception. Great compliment.

Of course, the main topic was digitization and Industry 4.0; Topics that were dealt with very competently and since they also affect every single company have found corresponding approval.

Too bad that there are so few of this kind of event in the electrical industry.

The Smart City Standard consists of a series of measures that must be implemented by all cities that participate in the digitization project by 2024. The standard includes various events in eight areas, e.g. at municipalities, tourism, communal service providers.

The first step, therefore, will be the introduction of digital platforms to engage citizens in the management of urban processes, which should work in every region of the country by 2020.

"Today, there is no single concept for the" Smart City "in the world, and at the same time many cities are striving to obtain such a title. Together with leading experts in the field of digitization and based on the experiences of other countries, we have developed a series of activities that are necessary for the transition to a "smart city" in Russia, "said Andrey Chibis.

The implementation of the Smart City project involves all cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants and all administrative centers.
