Ahlsell expects decline in new construction

Ahlsell, one of the leading technical trading companies in Scandinavia, achieved sales of SEK 8,056 m (EUR 780.7 m) in the.........

second quarter of 2018, an increase of 18%. The operating profit was SEK 582 m (EUR 56.4 m), an increase of 24%.

For the half year this means a turnover of SEK 15,217 m (EUR 1,474.7 m), plus 14% and a profit of SEK 1,043 m (EUR 101.1 m) also up by 14%.

The President and CEO, Johan Nilsson, therefore, also commented on the results positively, but pointed out in his outlook "housing starts in new residential construction have declined, but have not yet had a significant impact on our sales. On the other hand, we are already seeing signs of increasing activity in renovation. This indicates that demand for renovation is now picking up as new-build demand is expected to decline. "
