Home Depot takes over Interline Brands
Home Depot from Atlanta/Georgia is taking over the maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) specialists Interline Brands from Jacksonville/Florida for USD 1.63 bn (EUR 1.49 bn) in cash.
The transaction is to be concluded by 1.11.2015, but still has to receive the blessing of the competition authorities.
Home Depot, which has 2,200 DIY stores in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico is probably the largest DIY chain in the world. About 300,000 people are employed, and in 2014 its turnover stood at USD 83.2 bn (EUR 76.2 bn). There are also plans to expand into Europe, although up until now these efforts have shown no sign of success.
Interline made a turnover of USD 1.7 bn (EUR 1,5 bn) in 2014, and the company numbers 4,500 employees and 93 branches in the United States.
