Rexel can sell to Sonepar

On 30.4.2015 we reported on electro-insider under the headline “Rexel sells Latin America business to Sonepar” that Rexel would sell.............

..its activities in Latin America to its great competitor Sonepar if this was permitted by the relevant antitrust authorities in the countries. Rexel plans to concentrate on the regions of Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific in future.

Now it is official: The approval of the relevant anti-trust authorities has been given –  Sonepar is paying approx. EUR 47 m and is taking over Rexel’s organizations in Brazil, Chile and Peru.

According to information from Rexel its Latin American business consists of approx. 40% of the companies which are to be sold overall by the end of 2016 at the latest.

It is certainly not difficult to picture the likelihood of Sonepar being the first contact for the rest, too.
