Rexel with mixed results in 2017
Rexel had worldwide sales of EUR 13,310.1 m in 2017. Compared to the previous year with 13,162.1 m, this represents an increase of 1.1%.
Gross profit amounted to EUR 3,264.2 m, up 2.9%. Net profit was EUR 104.9 m, a whopping 21.9% less than one year ago.
In North America (35.4% of Group sales) it was EUR 4,710.1m, up 2% on 2016, and in the Asia-Pacific region (9.8%) it was EUR 1,307.7m, up 3%. In Europe (54.8% of Group sales), sales reached EUR 7,292.3m in 2017, up 3.4% on the previous year. Of this amount, EUR 2,659.2m was made in France (+ 4,7%), in the United Kingdom it was 843,6m (-3,3%), in Scandinavia EUR 974m (+ 5,7%) and a meager € 819.9m in Germany (+ 2.3%).
For 2018, Patrick Berard (CEO of Rexel) expects "further growth in a market environment that should remain favorable in most of our main geographies. We will continue to invest in our digitization strategy across the Group and in our operations in the US and should also benefit from the contribution from our US initiatives launched in 2017.”
