The Fagerhult Group is one of the leading European lighting companies with over 4,400 employees in 28 countries and sales of 6,816 million SEK (677 million EUR) in 2020, a decrease of 13.1% compared to the previous year. The net profit amounted to 572.4 million SEK (54.8 million EUR), an increase of 11.2% over the previous year. Fagerhult includes such well-known brands as iGuzzini, Whitecroft, Veko, to name just a few. There are a total of 13 brands in the four business areas.

In 2020, the loss-making company in South Africa was sold because the market there had not developed as expected. Additionally, traditional retailing has been found negatively affected whereas e-commerce, horticulture, and healthcare showed growth.

On August 7th, we informed you that Fagerhult will withdraw...

On August 7th, we informed you that Fagerhult will withdraw from South Africa because the market has not developed as the management had expected. Now the buyer is also known: it is Cape Mountain Concepts (Pty) Ltd.

The sale took place on November 2, 2020.

The new owners already have another lighting business in South Africa, so that the Fagerhult subsidiary (Lighting Innovations Africa (Pty) Ltd.) now has a secure future.

Fagerhult had to cope with a 16% drop in sales in Q2 2020...

Fagerhult had to cope with a 16% drop in sales in Q2 2020 from SEK 2,055 m (EUR 198 m) to SEK 1,726 m (EUR 167 m). The operating result was SEK 153.6 m (EUR 14.8 m), a decrease of 12.1%.

The managing director Ms. Bodil Sonesson announced that the second competence center started operation in Linköping / Sweden in August.

In November 2015 Fagerhult acquired 100% of the lighting manufacturer Lighting Innovations, which was founded by Bruce Waddell in 1989. Lighting Innovations Africa (now the new name) is one of the most important domestic manufacturers of lighting solutions; however, in the past the market has not developed as expected, so Fagerhult has now decided to invest its money in more lucrative markets. The process will be completed by the end of the year.

Turnover in South Africa last year was 161 m South African Rand (ZAR); this corresponds to EUR 7.78 m.

As we already reported on October 16, 2018, Fagerhult has now taken over the Italian iGuzzini Illuminazione for around...........

385 m EUR at the end of the year. This will create one of the largest lighting companies in Europe with a consolidated annual net turnover of more than 8,000 m SEK (780 m EUR).

As already announced, Adolfo Guzzini (president of iGuzzini) and Andrea Sasso (managing director of iGuzzini), in addition to their current management responsibilities within iGuzzini, will take on key functions in Fagerhult's top management.

The terms: Fagerhult is to acquire iGuzzini on a cash and debt free basis for 385 m EUR. 26% will be paid in new Fagerhult shares issued to current iGuzzini shareholders, 74% will be paid in cash through new and existing credit facilities and a bridging loan.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019.

the Italian lighting manufacturer iGuzzini from Recanati. The transaction is expected to be completed in 2018.

The sellers (the Guzzini family, represented by their legal advisor) receive a substantial portion of the sales value in Fagerhult shares with the aim of becoming shareholders in the new combined entity.


Adolfo Guzzini (President of iGuzzini) and Andrea Sasso (CEO of iGuzzini), in addition to their current leadership roles within iGuzzini, will take on key roles in Fagerhult's top management.

iGuzzini had a turnover of approx. EUR 230 m in 2017; Fagerhult had approx. EUR 500 m in the same period.

would step down from office in 2018.

Now, the Board of Directors has appointed a successor. It is Ms Bodil Sonesson (50) who will take up her new post on 24 November at the latest. Ms. Sonesson comes from the Axis Group where she has held various leadership positions since 1996.

She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Tomra Systems.
