Home Depot from Atlanta / Georgia, the world’s largest home improvement retailer...

Home Depot from Atlanta / Georgia, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, is taking over HD Supply, one of the largest industrial wholesalers in North America. Home Depot pays for all outstanding common stock an amount of USD 8 bn (EUR 6.7 bn).

The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter, with Home Depot's fiscal year ending January 31, 2021. The deal comes just days later after speculation, that Lowe, the U.S. second-largest home improvement retailer, might acquire HD Supply.

Atlanta-based HD Supply, one of North America's largest industrial wholesalers, achieved 1.49 bn USD (1.32 bn EUR) in revenue in the first quarter of 2019, 7.5% more than a year ago; operating income increased  19 m USD ( 16.8 m EUR) from  151 m USD (133 m EUR) to  170 m USD (150 m EUR).

Net income for the quarter was 107 m USD (94.5 m EUR), up 20.2%.

in the first half of 2018 (Feb.-Jul), up 16.4% against 2017. Operating income was USD 362 m (EUR 312 million), an increase of 17.2%.

Net income was USD 220 m (EUR 190 m); Compared to the previous year, it was a 58% decrease, taking into account that the result is slightly biased, as in the first half of 2017 a profit of USD 361 m (EUR 311 m) from discontinued operations was included.

Joe DeAngelo, Chairman and CEO expects total revenues of USD 5,900 / 6,000 m in 2018 (EUR 5,085 / 5,170 m); in 2017, it was USD 5,121 m (EUR 4,413 m).

For the full year 2017 a further increase in turnover and profits is expected.

Gross profits rose by 8.9% to USD 609 m (EUR 541 m).

Earnings increased by USD 22 m (EUR 20 m) to USD 178 m (EUR 158 m) in the 1st quarter.

Despite the week start in the second quarter, the company is sticking to its forecast and is expecting a turnover of between USD 2.0 and 2.5 bn (EUR 1.7 – 1.8 bn).
