Ahlsell, one of the leading technical trading companies in Scandinavia, achieved a turnover of SEK 31,291 m..........

in 2018 ( 3 bn EUR); this is an increase of 13.9% compared to the previous year. The operating profit (EBIT) amounted to SEK 2,138 m (208 m EUR), again an increase over the last year (+ 4.7%). Profit after tax increased by 10.8% to SEK 1,582 m (154 m EUR).

Good market conditions contributed to sales growth in the final quarter of the year with their existing customers, but also with new customers, who could be gained through the completed takeovers (in 2018, 8 acquisitions could be made).

The President, Johan Nilsson, continues to expect good demand and growth in 2019, albeit at a slightly lower level than in recent years.

An important day for Ahlsell will be the 11th of February, when Quimper's acceptance period expires. Quimper has offered to buy all Ahlsell shares for a maximum price of 55 SEK = 5.36 EUR / share. (See our news dated 11.12.2018).

Solar from Denmark complains that the changes in distribution structures in Sweden and Norway are.........

not yet effective and that therefore have been slight shifts in sales and earnings in the third quarter and it will take still some time until the expected recovery shows positive results.

Sales in the third quarter of 2018 amounted to DKK 2,546 m (EUR 341 m); a minus of 2.2%. For the 9 months, sales in 2018 were DKK 8.118 m (EUR 1.088 m); a slight minus of 0.1%.

Profit before tax from January to September was DKK 172 m (EUR 23 m), 20.4% down on the same period of the previous year.

Full-year sales are expected to reach DKK 11,100 m (EUR 1,488 m), an increase of approx. 2%.

The Swedish lighting manufacturer Fagerhult from Habo has signed a letter of intent on 15th October to take over......

the Italian lighting manufacturer iGuzzini from Recanati. The transaction is expected to be completed in 2018.

The sellers (the Guzzini family, represented by their legal advisor) receive a substantial portion of the sales value in Fagerhult shares with the aim of becoming shareholders in the new combined entity.


Adolfo Guzzini (President of iGuzzini) and Andrea Sasso (CEO of iGuzzini), in addition to their current leadership roles within iGuzzini, will take on key roles in Fagerhult's top management.

iGuzzini had a turnover of approx. EUR 230 m in 2017; Fagerhult had approx. EUR 500 m in the same period.

Fagerhult, the lighting manufacturer headquartered in Habo / Sweden, achieved net sales of...........

SEK 1,270.7 m (EUR 122.3 m) in the 3 months from January to March 2018, 2.1% more than in the previous year. About 3,300 employees were employed.

The operating result amounted to SEK 138.6 m (EUR 13.3 m), a decrease of 9.6%.

Regional sales were as follows: Northern Europe EUR 49.7 m, UK and Northern Ireland EUR 26.1 m, Rest of Europe EUR 41.2 m, Africa, Asia and Pacific EUR 16.4 m.

At the beginning of March 2018, the Dutch lighting company Veko Lightsystems International B.V., based in Schagen / NL, was acquired. In December 2017 Veko employed 130 people and had a turnover of EUR 37 m. Fagerhult paid EUR 31.5 m. In addition, there could be additional payments, which depend however on the company's performance in the next 3 years.

The sales departments with direct customer contact remain in Bollebygd, while the development, assembly and storage is relocated to Habo.

by 11.7% from SEK 24,606 m (EUR 2,506 m) to SEK 27,484 m (EUR 2,799 m). EBIT increased by 18.8% to SEK 2,043 m (EUR 208 m). Profit after tax increased by 317.5% from SEK 342 m (EUR 35 m) to SEK 1,428 m (EUR 145 m).

Ahlsell was extremely satisfied with the past year; in total, 13 new branches in their 3 country groups were acquired and opened with sales of more than SEK 1,450 m (EUR 148 m).

For the full year 2018, the positive business is expected to continue.

Karolina Hagberg has been appointed as new purchasing manager (CPO) at Ahlsell AB in Sweden.

She becomes part of the group management and takes up her new position by 15 June 2018. Magnus Nordstrand, the current CPO at Ahlsell, leaves the company for family reasons.

Ms Hagberg is currently employed at COOP Sverige AB. She has extensive experience in various positions in purchasing, marketing and sales, including at Barilla and ICA. Ms Hagberg will be in charge of purchasing and responsible for sustainability, a central part of the Ahlsell strategy.

9 months January to September 2017 in comparison with the same period last year to SEK 19,879 m (EUR 2,007 m). Profits after tax amounted to SEK 966 m (EUR 97.5 m).

Sweden was again the driving force with a growth of 13%, which was partly due to the opening of a central warehouse in Hallsberg. In Norway the growth rate was 8%, and building construction is at its highest level for 40 years. Finland is continuing its positive development, but still less strongly than the other markets.

By means of takeovers it has been possible to enlarge the customer base and a further upturn is expected in the next quarters.
