Sonepar took over the Dutch electrical wholesale company EMG van de Meerakker (founded in 2007) at the end of June 2016.

Sonepar took over the Dutch electrical wholesale company EMG van de Meerakker (founded in 2007) at the end of June 2016.

Van de Meerakker is mainly active in the machine and panel construction industry, making a turnover of approx. EUR 19.2 m in 2015. The company employs 35 people in its 4 sales outlets in Weert, Veghel, Barendrecht and Veenendaal.

EMG van de Meerakker is being integrated into Sonepar’s subsidiary van Egmond, which has its headquarters in Doetinchem, thus strengthening the latter’s position in the market. van Egmond was only just taken over by Sonepar Nederland in 2015.

Sonepar’s largest subsidiary in the Netherlands by far is Technische Unie with approx. 40 branches.

This company has 38 other branches and is the largest electrical wholesale company in the Netherlands.

Now Sonepar has also taken over the wholesale company van Egmond in Doetinchem, thus further increasing its already very great reach on the market.

Up to now van Egmond had belonged to the purchasing association Imagro and thus to Imelco. This membership is now terminated.

In the Netherlands Sonepar generates approx. 50% of its turnover with electrical articles and approx. 50% in the sanitation sector.
