At the beginning of June 2019, Würth acquired the electrical wholesalers Electro-Stocks, headquartered in Barcelona and 56 branches. The group also includes the companies Kilovatio and the newly established company Fluid-Stocks. In total, there are now about 65 branches with a turnover of approx. 300 m EUR.

Electro-Stocks was founded in 1981 and was taken over in 2016 after some financial turbulences by the British investment company Apax Partners.

On September 12th, we reported that Simon Sanfilippo, the managing director of the Italian purchasing association Elex Italia.......

will be engaged by Würth early 2019, and also that Ryszard D'Antoni of the Polish purchasing association SHE, had been employed at Würth for over a year.

Now Würth's further strategy seems to be clear: D'Antoni, who turns 65 next  September, will then go into well-deserved retirement. His successor will be Simon Sanfilippo, who will mainly focus on cooperation with manufacturers at European level.

This move will not make things easier for the ailing companies Rexel and Sonepar (see electro-insider of 14. September) and Würth is in the process of establishing itself further as an international marketing company.

Würth in Italy has made a big hit, the effects of which are not yet clear. Ulrich Liedtke, the expert for international business at Würth,......

was able to win over Simon Sanfilippo, managing director of the purchasing association Elex Italia for Würth. Sanfilippo is one of THE professionals in electrical wholesaling in Italy. Before that, he was at the wholesale company Comet. Sanfilippo is indeed bilingual: Italian and English (native speaker).

Würth has signed two partnership agreements with major electrical wholesalers in recent years. First, it was MEF from Florence (since February 2015) and since July 2018 with M.E.B. from Schio.

Behind this tactic is quite a system to be recognized, but the most important thing is, you have to get on it first.

Already 1 year ago, Würth in Poland was able to win the managing director of the marketing association SHE, Mr. Ryszard D'Antoni. Without doubt also perfect as regards to the wholesale trade.

Würth is represented in Poland by the companies Elektroskandia Poland and Fega-Poland.

Until now, e.g. most recently in Germany (Hagemeyer), Sonepar has always benefited from a tumbling wholesaler, with good professionals migrating to Sonepar; this could change now, as Würth is not only represented in Italy and Poland, but in other European countries as well. Würth is perceived, which certainly results in a desired effect in terms of staff with expertise.

And by the way Ulrich Liedtke is quite a heavyweight in the European electrical wholesaling scene as well. He is acting President of the European Union of Electrical Wholesalers (EUEW) with multiple contacts to the entire trade.

with the wholesale company M.E.B. from Schio. M.E.B. was founded in 1992 and operates 24 branches with a turnover of approx. 107 m  EUR.

The model of this partnership lies in the partnership that was concluded in February 2015 with the wholesaler MEF from Florence, i.e. the majority of M.E.B. is taken over by Würth, the board members and the management remain in their respective postions.

Leonardo Giaffreda, President of the MEF and Board Member of W.EG Italia and Bruno de Guio, President of M.E.B. are pleased that this kind of cooperation will bring further synergies and further strengthens the importance of the brands in the Italian market.
